Green Piece Indy
Greenlight on Fall Creek Place
Our monthly tribute to the earth-friendly efforts of Central Indiana neighborhoods took us to Fall Creek Place this month. Situated two miles north of downtown Indianapolis, it's easy for residents of this charming neighborhood to bike or take the IndyGo bus to downtown's bustling dining and retail scenes. That's not to say that Fall Creek Place doesn't have a few food and shopping gems of its own. Among the area's more eco-conscious purveyors are:

  • At Goose the Market, you'll find Indiana-raised meats, artisan cheeses, and local produce from some of the same names-Capriole Farms, Country Mouse City Mouse, Homestead Growers, Hubbard & Cravens, Traders Point Creamery, Upland Brewing Co.-you see at your neighborhood farmers market. The upside? Way better hours. The store is open until 8 p.m. on weekdays and 6 p.m. on Saturdays. 2503 N. Delaware St., 924-4944
  • Ready for a little neighborhood beautification? Head to Salon Orange Moon, an Aveda concept salon that uses the wind-powered brand's full line of plant-based products. Property taxes stressing you out? Sit back, relax, and enjoy a foot soak and hand massage, totally free with your hair coloring service. 2457 N. Delaware St., 925-MOON
  • If names like Eames and Saarinen float your furniture design boat, don't pass up a trip to Meridian. The store stocks vintage furnishings from the 1950s and '60s that are all the rage in today's top home décor magazines. 2201 N. Meridian St., (317) 923-2201
Piece out,
Renee & Meghan
