As we all dry out from the torrential rains, we're
greeted with the arrival of Indiana's summer heat. The Goose
has a load of summer sippers to help keep you cool.
First, the beer
Oberon by
Bell's Brewery: We've got this spicy, fruity wheat
ale in the six packs for $10. Grab one for the golf course, the
barbecue or, hell, the front porch. Beware, supplies are
limited.
Rubaeus by
Founder's in Michigan: Brewed with fresh raspberries
at five separate stages, this beer isn't too sweet with malts that
still manage to come through the tartness of the raspberries.
Snatch a four pack for $10.50.
Summer Bright
Ale by Breckenridge: This wheat ale is crafted with a
touch of citrus, and it's going, going, gone at $11 for six
bottles.
Orange Blossom
Cream Ale by Buffalo Bill's: While beer snobs might
cringe, we're proud of our orange blossoms. This beer is a citrusy,
fizzy, a tad sweet, and--most importantly--highly drinkable on a
scorching summer day. Put down the Beer Advocate membership badge and
grab six for $12.25.
Man cannot live on beer alone, so mix it up with some wine
2004 La Mere
Boitier Macon Villages: Big Burgundy; little coin. At
just $14, this white offers peach, apple, and pear flavors with a bit
of citrus and the crisp acidity highlighted by stainless steel
fermentation.
2006 Ostatu
Rioja Blanco: Mollies' favorite white is made with
Viura and Malvasia grapes fermented in stainless steel to produce
green apple and floral aromas with mineral and pear flavors.
This is a great value at $12.
Semi-Dry Mead
by New Day Meadery: Brett and Tia are crafting some
beautiful honey wines just a stone's throw north of Indy. Their
sophisticated Semi-Dry Mead sips nicely with your favorite spicy
asian dishes or fruit and cheese. It's balanced, lightly sweet,
and flavorful stuff, created with Indiana ingredients by Indiana
folks at $19 a bottle.
Enjoy and have a great summer.
Cheers!
